Okay, so… I know I said I was making a VSL, but…

I may have cracked the code!

Now my niche is ‘Business Development Coaching for Introverted Entrepreneurs’

But my page doesn’t say that explicitly…

Here comes the second thing I changed:

My entire content strategy has now shifted.

Now, I have a new ICP and leverage Targeted Marketing to maximize impact.

I aim for my content to speak ONLY to the people who resonate with my offer.

Technically, both clients were inbound leads…

I said one was outbound because I had messaged them 2 weeks ago…

They had randomly responded to my old messages yesterday night.

Probably because of the content that I made.

It was very obvious that both of my new clients are introverts…

I guess my targeting works hehe

My first business would be considered a success by many.

• We had consistent clients

• We had revenue coming in

• We had solid systems in place

But to me, it wasn’t successful by any means…

• I didn’t like waking up to it

Without one, there won’t be intentional action taken…

And it will be very hard to sustain the efforts required for success!

What started as a genuine conversation…

Quickly turned into my worst nightmare.

Today, I was planning to start a 7-day engagement challenge for my boot camp...

I, alongside fellow members, would be strategically engaging 100+ times daily.

I started off the day by replying to my community, as I always do…

But I made a mistake…

I used the f-word and got an automatic 12-hour suspension for violent speech.

I suggested that a friend who was dependent on caffeine try ‘f*sting’…

Normally, I try to sugarcoat my violence to appease the algorithm,

But I couldn’t help myself this time… he said he loved coffee!

…

In all seriousness, this put a damper on my day,

And now I have to postpone the challenge to tomorrow!

So What Now?

In business, you often come across these situations…

Times when things don’t go your way, and you can’t do what you want.

They really suck.

But it’s times like that that show you what type of CEO you are going to be.

There are only 2 types:

• Someone looking for an excuse

• Someone who gets the job done

So, today, I prioritized strategy and organization.

• Create a new 𝕏 banner

• Brainstorm new bio

• Ideate giveaway

• Write new sales letter

• Chose goals for next 30 days

I set future me up for success by knocking out a few tasks I’d been delaying!

I also had the kickoff meeting with the boot camp!

We went over goals and adjustments.

Then, I gave a detailed rundown of what’s to come…

It was Wednesday morning.

I had woken up and just as I expected…

I had crossed another milestone: 300 followers on 𝕏.

I posted a quick tweet about it, but it didn’t feel like that was enough.

So I decided to create a challenge for myself to celebrate further…

I’d be making 300 comments in a day split up into 3 categories:

• Community Interactions - people with whom I have rapport

• Influencer Interactions - people with large communities

• Stranger Interactions - people that I’m unfamiliar with

This would give me a well-rounded set of data to use later…

This was a challenge, but it became so much more than that!

Main Objectives

Here were the main goals of this challenge:

1. Discover optimal engagement routine for maximum results

2. Increase momentum from prior milestone achievement

3. Increase traffic and visibility of my 𝕏 profile

4. Accelerate the community-building process

5. Increase credibility and authority

6. Win some new clients

I could probably name a couple more, but these six are the most important.

I Failed

This was the first challenge I had done.

I figured there would be a few bumps, but never anything like this.

I completely whiffed!

I only managed to get to about 175 comments.

By the 100th comment, I was already mentally exhausted.

But I did learn a few things:

• People genuinely wanted to see me win.

• My community didn’t even have 100 people

• I had no set process for online comment creation

So, with these lessons in mind, I wanted to try again.

And this time, I would not be defeated.

Attempt #2

Spoiler: I win.

Now that I knew what to expect…

My initial goal was to put myself in a position to succeed.

I woke up and immediately got to it.

I completed my first 50 comments in 90 minutes.

Then, I took a 1-hour break for lunch and relaxation.

Boom!

Then I knocked out 100 comments in 3 hours.

Right after that, I went to play tennis with my fiancee.

I was on the home stretch, but it was getting late…

but I did NOT want to lose!

I really don’t like losing…

I’d continue on and knock out the remaining 150 comments in 5.5 hours.

I was exhausted, but I found my footing and got it done!

Boysie wins.

The Results

This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for…

First, I’ll go down the objectives:

1. Did I discover an optimal engagement routine for maximum results?
   I think I have, but need about a week of testing.

2. Did I increase momentum from prior milestone achievement?
   Absolutely! People were more excited than I was about this

3. Did this increase the traffic and visibility of my 𝕏 profile?
   It definitely increased traffic, and my visibility skyrocketed.

4. Did this accelerate the community-building process?
   Yes! It certainly added tons of people to my community overnight.

5. Did this increase credibility and authority?
   Yes, it did! I had plenty of people asking for advice in my DMs.

6. Did I win any new clients?
   No, I have not closed any new clients from this… yet.
   I did generate a BUNCH of hot leads, so we shall see.

Show Me The Numbers

According to the 𝕏 stats page (which I broke):

• Impressions: 18,184

• Profile Visits: 263

• New Followers: 49

Compared to before:

• Impressions: 9,443

• Profile Visits: 145

• New Followers: 40

So it definitely increased the numbers, but there’s one question left…

Was it Worth it?

Yesterday, right after finishing, the answer was a blaring NO…

But I woke up to a different feeling once I slept it over.

Truth is, 300 comments can boost your profile to insane heights!

I woke up to over 170 replies…

I felt like a celebrity for the first hour of the day.

However, I would say the ratio of comment type has to be different!

Splitting everything up equally makes no sense.

So yes, it is worth it…

But ONLY if you do it the right way!

Much of this challenge was to get ready for my upcoming boot camp!

Traffic generation was an area I saw many people lacking, and I have a formula!

As some of you may know, I have recently rebranded.

Rather than offering business consulting, I am offering business development.

The difference is minor, but it makes all the difference…

Why the change?

Well I wanted to do something related more to sales and marketing!

While I am great a business operations and organization…

It is not even close to a passion of mine!

With this change came a burst of motivation to get everything ramped up again

So I beefed up my daily routine…

It doesn’t just include online engagement and content creation!

It also includes one of my favorite pastimes (lying)… cold calling!

Why Cold Calling?

Mainly because I’m great at it.

It’s what I’ve spent most of my career perfecting!

So, in an attempt to speed up the process, I decided a few per day would be great!

My career average is about 1 close every 40 calls or so…

Which would mean about one close per week at 10 calls per day!

That was just my theory.

What happened left me in awe!

How Did the Calls Go?

I can’t lie— it was difficult getting back into the rhythm.

I hadn’t made a cold call in almost 6 months!

So, I just dove in head first!

The first call I dialed was from this kind, older woman.

She answered the phone and basically waited for me to pitch her.

*fumbles through the pitch*

“I appreciate the offer, but I already have xyz.”

It was clear that I hadn’t properly communicated my offer.

I quickly gave my appreciation for her sitting through that horrid pitch and moved on.

• I noted the objection

• I revised the verbiage of my pitch

• I searched for more numbers to dial

After about 10 minutes, I had gotten more than 5 numbers to call.

I was motivated to nail them all—I was hype today!

The first number wasn’t in service.

The second number was the same thing…

In fact, every number I dialed was going straight to voicemail or didn’t exist!

It was as if an apocalypse came in and destroyed ALL of this business…

• I stalked the socials

• I visited webpages

• I looked at blogs

Every single one was a vacant shell of a company!

Sheesh…

How Could This Be?

Well, as the former CEO of a service-based business,

I can guess exactly what happened…

• An awesome business idea came to fruition

• The owner invested in the essentials (website, socials, newsletter, etc.)

• They operated it under the “build it, and they’ll come.” mindset

• No one came…

The End.

Running a business is HARD.

Hoping to get bailed out by a unicorn is even harder!

Plenty of these businesses had:

• Highly experienced experts as owners

• Great web pages and newsletters

• An awesome business concept

Yet, 9 out of 10 were out of business.

It’s not about what you have or the quality of your website…

It’s about the quality of your online brand!

Yesterday, I baited my audience into a feedback trap.

The goal?

To figure out how serious people were about their competition.

The result?

Most are not serious…

And when I say not serious, I mean they had no clue what I was talking about.

Well, the truth is that they should be very concerned about their business!

Why Does The Competition Matter?

By no stretch of the imagination am I saying it’s all that matters…

But it should be a top priority in the early stages AND the late stages!

• If you are early, you have a possible roadmap to emulate AND improve…

• If you are late, you have a list of edges you can have over the market…

In both scenarios, you’re making a decision between superiority and mediocrity!

Competition is a Great Thing!

Would it be fun to run a race by yourself?

Probably not.

So leverage competition to make things interesting.

• Compare benchmarks

• Find similarities

• Find areas for improvement

Use your creativity and make yourself stand out!

Do it regularly…

And remember, at the end of the day…

SMBs (small and medium-sized businesses) might make up 80% of a market…

But only produce 20% of the revenue, and that’s pretty generous!

Pareto’s Principle at its finest!

So even though it makes it seem like an evil competitor, Joe is stealing your biz…

You didn’t have much to fight over in the first place.

That is, unless you are in a free enterprise market like the internet…

Where a majority of your competition and market cap is SMB…

My first business was struggling...

• Vendors beating down our door for money

We had just come off the worst month we had ever experienced.

A 50% drop in MRR…

What Happened?

We had just come off a high…

What Did We Do?

I was the CEO of the company!

No one else would be taking the blame for this one.

My responsibility was to give us a fair shot at succeeding, and per the numbers…

I was not doing my job.

I did the math, and we had about 5 months of operation until we were DONE!

The first thing I did was identify our problem areas…

• Poorly trained employees

• Lack of process efficiency

• Horrible company morale

… there were more, but these were the main problems we faced.

Once ALL our problems were rounded up it was time to get solving.

We began solving by order of most efficient and greatest ROI.

What problem is going to give us the most relief with the least amount of energy.

Within one day, I had crafted a plan to…

• Increase our cashflow

• Decrease controllable errors

• Increase operational efficiency

It was a clear and concise plan that I knew would get us where we needed to go.

The Next 90 Days

All of us had to get on the same page if it was going to work.

I had a brief but motivational meeting with the team to go over the plan.

It was obvious that everyone was locked in as over the next 90 days…

We almost completely recover from our situation.

From under $250k MRR to over $350k MRR.

An insane period of recovery and scaling and we repaired our entire business.

The only difference now was that we had the correct infracture in place!

Once you have these ingredients, this is all you need to do (in order)!

1. Optimize your profile to your niche.

2. Break your offer into solution content.

3. Post a diverse mix of content (Solution, Success, & Personal)

4. Engage with people in your niche (Competition, Prospects, Friends)

5. Present your offer to ALL your leads

6. Repeat from step 3.

Who are the leads?

If you optimize your profile the right way, then…

• Anyone who engages with your profile is a possible lead.

• Anyone who engages with your content is a possible lead.

• Anyone who reaches out to you directly is a possible lead.

The better your content and engagement practices…

The more success you will have online!

Here’s a basic funnel template I follow:

1. Niche Content Creation - attracts your ICP to you

As someone who has landed clients with social media, I can tell you…

Knowing copywriting is critical!

It can be the difference between a 90-day sales cycle and filling a waitlist.

Writing great content is the fastest way to social media success (outside of community building).

And its importance is only going to become more prominent!

So, I’ll share with you the 3 MOST important lessons I have learned about it.

Lesson #1: Leverage your story

The easy way to stand out is to be different.

Well, the easiest way to be different is to be you…

You don’t like who you are?

Well, your copy is going to come out basic.

Learning to copywrite was the most expedited self-development journey.

I started out attempting to write for the masses.

• All my grammar was perfect.

• I made sure to explain each sentence.

• I only discussed topics that people cared about.

It only took a couple of weeks of no one caring about the work to change me.

Soon, I began writing to myself solely for the purpose of sharing advice.

I shared my experiences along with my advice in a way ONLY I COULD DO!

I leveraged my story, and that led to my influence growing much faster.

Lesson #2: Harp on the heartstrings

First thing to remember is that we are humans!

Creatures that react to our environment with emotions.

• We cringe

• We laugh

• We cry

Once I understood this, my storytelling began to take off.

When writing solid copy, it’s important to let your audience in on the feelings.

If you were sad about something in your story:

• Don’t just say, “I was sad. I had no clue what to do.”

• Say, “It failed... 3 years of effort, gone! I sat there in shock at the results. What am I supposed to do now?”

Make your audience feel what you feel/felt in the moment. Share thoughts, feelings, and everything else.

Use emotional language to enhance the feelings of the copy.

Lesson #3: Sharpen all the hooks

What if I told you that lesson 3 will impact your copywriting most?

Grabbing attention is the hardest part of content creation.

The hook is what brings in the money!

It’s not just the title or the introduction…

A hook is any start to a new concept.

• It’s brief.

• It’s vague.

• It’s intriguing.

A good hook is a balance of these three things.

It says just enough to give you a clue but not enough to soothe the curiosity.

Its only job is to get people to read the rest of what you have to say.

Don’t just go with a first-try hook,

Refine it as many times as necessary until you get it just right!

Once you understand the formula, the results will speak for themselves!

Bonus Lesson: Interrupt all patterns

This is the key to maintaining attention!

TV shows and movies do this with cuts and transitions…

But with words, it’s even harder.

Transitions in this day and age don’t work as well as they used to.

So, the best pattern interruption with copy is a cut!

How do you cut?

Switch up something about your writing…

• It can be the sentence structure.

• It can be the punctuation.

• It can be alliteration.

• It can be format.

I used all types of pattern interruption throughout this article!

All I am trying to do is maintain your attention…

Not just with what I am discussing,

But also with the visuals of text.

When I started my first business, I was LOST.

Everyone around me swore I was this genius…

“Dude, that’s crazy!”

“Boysie, I’m so proud of you!”

“Man, I can’t believe you actually did it…”

I’d always smirk before I opened my mouth to say thanks.

I’m sure they thought it was me being pretentious or egotistical…

A common default assumption people often make routed in insecurity.

But in reality, my smirk represented the outburst of laughter I was holding back.

In truth, I had absolutely no clue how I was doing what I was doing…

And my first true test of entrepreneurship didn’t come until I hit my first $1M.

The First Test

We were short on manpower…

Orders were failing left and right!

Customers were banging on our door, looking for answers.

It was at that moment that I missed being an employee,

But there was no manager to save me this time…

I had to fix this myself.

I started calling out commands like a sea captain.

“Focus on this”

“I’m gonna work on that”

“We can do this, we just need to get here.”

For the first time, I understood what a CEO’s actual job was.

A CEO is the captain, and they are responsible for the direction of the company.

I was nobody’s friend…

We had gone from $400k MRR to $200k MRR within the last 30 days!

My only objective was to recover from the huge loss we had taken.

This would remain my focus for the next 4 months…

Land ho!!

I saw the destination at a distance, and I was ecstatic…

• Numbers were trending up.

• Customers we lost were coming back

• Our order fulfillment and operations became top-notch

Within four months, we managed to scale our MRR back up to $350k!

But, But, But How?

The answer is pretty simple…

We did 3 things:

1. We analyzed

2. We hypothesized

3. We optimized

To explain further…

First, we looked at our entire system to figure out where the problems were…

Then, we made a few educated guesses about what we could do…

After that, we focused on ONLY the actions that had the largest impact!

It was a continuous experiment in which we sought after the best solutions…

Tip: Oftentimes, the best solution is the one you’ve been avoiding!

I believe anyone willing to take on the risk of entrepreneurship deserves success!

Today, I want to discuss cold outreach and share my method for making it a more comfortable experience. Sales should be accessible to everyone, and sometimes, having to do outreach can put it out of reach for some people!

Let’s Dive In!

Think of SaaS!

In most areas of the professional world, SaaS means “Software as a Service”

• Microsoft Office

• Adobe Photoshop

• McAfee Antivirus

But for the sake of making this fun, for us, it will mean “Sales as a Service”

I have trained and been responsible for the results of many sales people!

Well over 80% of them hated the thought of sales…

Just like most people, they saw it as manipulation, cheating, stealing…

Salesmen are the scum of the Earth!

So, how did I get them selling like the best salespeople to ever exist?

I told them about SaaS!

Most of them saw sales as an unfair transaction—one side loses…

But that doesn’t make sense!

No one in their right mind is going to purposely buy something that isn’t worth it.

So sales isn’t what makes it unfair…

It’s the deceit behind the sale that makes it unfair.

So here’s Sales as a Service:

• What you are offering MUST be worth the final amount!

• The goal when selling MUST be to inform, NOT to convince!

• When you are selling, you MUST be honest about everything!

That way, when you get to the selling part…

You don’t have to sell, and you can just offer a high-quality service!

The Cold Outreach Technique

Now that we have our mindsets in the right place,

We can start to work on our outreach process.

Now, outreach isn’t necessarily the most efficient method of client acquisition…

BUT

If you have the ability, it requires almost no leg work to start up

AND

You will be able to sell your offer in ANY climate!

• Poor economy

• Competitive market

• Brand-new company

I’ll break down the 3-part system I use for my cold outreach.

Introduction

The intro is the MOST important part of any outreach mechanism.

If you fail your introduction, then you will leave a horrible first impression.

The good news is that an introduction is fairly easy and only requires one rule!

The one and only rule: DON’T SELL!

An introduction is not for you to blast a spiel about your product!

In fact, the longer you hold on making your sale, the better!

The point here is to start a conversation and begin a relationship.

A “Hi, how are you doing?” goes a long way!

Pain Points

Identification of pains is the equivalent of an open-book test.

It’s virtually impossible to fail once you do it!

Pain points are going to be any areas where a prospect will have issues.

• A barber may hate the cost of oils

• A business consultant may suck at social media

• A lab scientist may be overworked and stressed out

The goal here is simply to focus the conversation on discussing pain, aka problems you can solve.

The biggest thing to note here is the power of curiosity and empathy!

Follow the rule: DON’T SELL!

When someone tells you their problem, refrain from offering your solution…

Instead, opt to learn more about their problem and the emotions they feel!

Do this until you feel like you’ve identified their largest problems.

Offer Solution

This is the ONLY part where selling is okay,

BUT

It is not a conventional sale!

The only thing you have to do here is recap the pain points you can help with.

Then, let them know about your solution to their pain.

This isn’t where you say whatever you can to convince them…

This is where you say, “ I have something that can x,y,z.” Would this interest you?

Then wait for an answer… if it’s no, then ask about their concern.

If it’s yes, then you have yourself a client!

Final Note

I have a couple of things to note here that I didn’t mention earlier:

• You NEED to prioritize the needs of your prospect

• You NEED to have an AWESOME offer for this to work

• You NEED to know your ICP and the best way to speak to them

• You NEED to be patient and give the process a fair chance before quitting

And last but certainly not least…

You can split this process up into multiple days.

The key to cold conversions is to turn them into warm prospects.

I gave you a cold-to-close process, but it doesn’t always happen in one go!

Bad Vibes = No Money

I want to start off by discussing bad vibes.

THERE IS NO PLACE FOR IT IN YOUR BUSINESS

• Not from clients

• Not from employees

• Certainly not from you

I hear people complain about not making money, and it confuses me.

We live in a cause-and-effect world…

If you do the right things, you get the right things.

So when you aren’t making money (desired outcome)…

You have to assume that what you are doing is the problem.

If it’s your fault… why complain?

The reason many people fail to make money is because they are ego-driven!

There isn’t a reality in their mind where they see themselves as the problem…

But the truth?

Entrepreneurship is nothing more than glorified self-development.

If you aren’t the problem, then you can’t be the solution.

The Best Mindset?

The best mindset is one where you can’t lose!

Think about this…

Imagine if someone sees their losses as an opportunity to improve…

And their wins as confirmation of a good decision.

How could they lose?

They see BOTH the wins and losses as feedback.

Unless there’s some other hidden outcome I haven’t heard about…

That means they GAIN something valuable from both instances!

Easier Said Than Done

Sure enough, everything is easier to talk about in theory…

But how do you do it in reality?

I personally have maintained this mindset for about 4 years,

And I haven’t stopped growing since!

• I still get upset.

• I still get emotional.

• I still feel pain.

This mindset isn’t about becoming invincible!

• It’s about translating the feedback you get from your circumstances.

• It’s about putting yourself as the solution to the problems you face

• It’s about making logical decisions after the emotional outcomes

• It’s about acknowledging the opportunities in all situations

I learned early on that my disappointment and sadness came from a lack of direction. Over time, I accepted the fact that whether I was happy or sad, the problem wouldn’t go away until I fixed it.

Soon after that realization, I began focusing more on the problem and less on my emotions.

Now, I have accepted disappointment and pain as parts of the ongoing journey!

Sure, it hurts sometimes, but I haven’t reached my destination.

Community Building 101

The first thing you need to know is the core of ALL community building.

It’s ALL about relationships.

But don’t think one-dimensionally.

Think about it like this:

• You to All - Talking to the masses

• You to One - Talking to an individual

• One to All - Your community talking to the masses

• One to One - Your community talking amongst each other

These are the different levels of community…

If you can achieve all four levels, you’ll be in a great position!

Let’s talk strategy…

3 Community Building Strategies

Each of the strategies I share will help you build a different level of community.

The goal is to start from the top and work your way down.

I. Niche Authority Content (You to All)

Many people have problems with this strategy.

They feel like they have to wait until they reach a follower threshold to do it.

However, with the right verbiage, it can be accomplished within a day.

Here are the steps:

1. Find Your Niche

2. Identify Niche Problems

3. Identify Current Solutions

4. Share Your Opinion on Current Solutions

5. Advise an Alternative to Current Problems

With this strategy, you will be building authority while growing a community!

II. Engagement Reciprocity (You to One)

This one is fairly simple but super effective!

It will help you build a 1:1 connection with someone while getting you exposure.

Simply engage with the posts of people who engage with your own posts.

I follow three rules, though…

1. Must be active on the platform

2. Must make content that I like

3. Must reply to their comments

If they check all three boxes, then I am game!

III. Soft Introductions (One to One)

This strategy is probably the least common of the three…

It also isn’t the best way to get a One to One connection in the community.

However, it is the easiest to start doing, so that’s why I am recommending it here.

For this strategy, think of yourself as a matchmaker for your community.

All you need to do is introduce people who you think would gel well together.

• If someone is looking for a writing coach and you know a guy who can help?

• If someone likes to talk about the same niche as someone else?

• If two people live in the same city and like the same things?

Hook it up!

Become the glue that provides opportunity and solves problems for your community!

Soon after a couple of these instances, your community will blossom!

However, these three strategies only scratch the surface…

Today, as promised, I will discuss how a newsletter can win you business…

Let’s dig in!

Why a Newsletter?

A newsletter is a super efficient addition to any sales cycle!

Why?

Because it prevents churn…

See, what most people fail to realize is that…

At any given time, only 2% of your audience are ready to buy from you…

So, what normally happens when you pitch someone who isn’t ready to buy?

Into the abyss, they go! Never to be communicated with again!

That is a waste of time and would require 50+ perfect pitches before a close…

A newsletter changes things…

It is a piggy bank of prospects that may not be ready to buy and close to buying.

Not only that but if they would buy, it’s likely they would buy from you first!

This fact increases conversions immensely, and it’s a great lead-nurturing tool!

So why don’t most people have a newsletter?

If I had to take a crack at guessing…

I’d say it’s because they feel like they are time-consuming or overly complicated.

However, those are just misconceptions, a newsletter can be simple if you want.

Da Rules

I’ll share with you my rules for a good company newsletter.

1. Must be enjoyable (self-explanatory)

2. Must have a CTA (must ask for something)

3. Must be consistent (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)

4. Must have a niche (talk about one category in specific)

5. Must provide value (entertainment, education, or inspiration)

These are my 5 rules for a newsletter…

Notice I said nothing about the length of the newsletter (spoiler: doesn’t matter)!

Making a Newsletter

Don’t worry, I’ll keep it simple so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed.

The first thing you want to do is decide the topic of your newsletter.

It should be relevant to your business or offer in some capacity.

The next thing is to decide on the frequency of publishing.

It should be comfortable for you, not a chore.

Also, factor in your level of comfort with the topic discussed.

Now that the hard part is out of the way…

Identify the biggest problems people in your niche face.

Then, identify how they are currently solving those problems.

Now, dedicate each episode to a discussion on one of those problems.

• Give your audience’s perspective

• Share your past perspective

• Share a better solution

This is more than enough to provide value to your audience and nurture leads!

If you are new to writing, keep it short and insightful until you feel confident.

Boom!

Where to Start?

First things first.

When it comes to online customer acquisition, you need to identify your customers. And I mean everything about them:

• What site do they use?

• What do they buy?

• Why do they buy?

• How old will they be?

Etc, etc, etc…

The more details you know, the easier it is to attract them through your online activity, and the faster you move towards acquiring your clientele.

So, identify your target client.

What’s Next?

You need to establish your online sales channels!

• Cold Inbound - Running Ads

• Cold Outbound - Cold Outreach

• Warm Inbound - Content Creation

• Warm Outbound - Profile Optimization

This is where the bulk of your efforts will go, and you can scale yourself to 7-figures through the last two methods.

Once you have those set, you need a place to store and nurture your leads.

That is what we call a newsletter and I’ll be going over how to do that Monday.

Some common misconceptions:

• We need a high follower count

• Our niche has to be lucrative

My Journey to Monetization

I started out on Instagram at the start of 2023.

I had picked up nature photography as a hobby and wanted to sell my work.

So, I began working on increasing my following and building a community.

• Month 1 - 120 followers

• Month 2 - 300 followers

• Month 3 - 500 followers

• … Month 6 - 1,000 followers

Every picture was getting a crazy amount of likes and comments.

It was at the 6-month mark that I felt it was the perfect time to monetize.

So, I started a campaign and posted my artwork for sale.

I’d end the year with 1,600 followers, 400 fans, and... $0 earned

What. Just. Happened.

I had almost 2,000 followers after a year, many of which were fans…

“Why weren’t they buying my work???”—I thought in frustration

It was time to move on…

My Business Consultancy

I started business consulting in November 2023.

I’ve changed my niche and business model well over 4 times.

Today marks the 152nd day of being in business…

80% of that time was spent in a similar fashion to my Instagram journey:

Hours of hard work put in with nothing to show for it.

I started this leg of my journey writing on Medium.

I wrote over 100 articles there, and while the pay was cool…

It was chump change in comparison to a minimum wage.

I grew to 600 followers before I finally made a breakthrough.

At the tail end of February 2023, I finally landed a client.

I Hired Help

I didn’t want to waste any more time.

I had proven my ability to do it on my own…

Now, I wanted to know exactly how I did it and create a system for it.

So I hired a coach!

Someone who had done it before…

Someone who was one or two steps ahead of me.

Not even two weeks into the coaching… I landed my second client!

AND they were paying me 10X what I earned from my first!

The Art of Monetization

There was a sad truth that I was forced to acknowledge…

I could have had this type of result from day one!

When I monetized the second time, it was on a new platform (X)!

I also had less than a quarter of the follower count as I did on Medium.

So what changed?

I Created a Sales Funnel

I created an organized process of communication.

• My content would lead people to my profile…

• My profile would lead people to my newsletter…

• My newsletter would lead people to my meetings…

• If my meetings went well, they would convert to clients!

This wasn't a revolutionary insight.

In fact, I had a funnel prior to this and it didn’t work.

So what was really different?

I Targeted the Right Audience

This was the turning point of my process.

I was targeting the wrong people with my previous content.

So, they would enter my funnel and never convert into customers.

Once I identified my ideal customer, everything else began to fall in line…

And all the lessons I had been learning since November became applicable!

Make sure you know who you are selling to, or you won’t be able to monetize!

I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner, but niching down is the main reason we scaled so quickly!

So make sure you look for a niche early on so that you can zone in and focus on it.

Today, I want to discuss something exciting. I am working on a guide for people who wish to increase their sales outcomes!

It doesn’t really matter what the desired outcome is.

For X, there are only 5 areas to pay attention to (ranked by importance):

1. Biography — This part shows your personality, qualifications, and purpose

2. Profile Photo — The first or second impression your audience will have

3. Featured Link — The most important part of the front-end funnel

4. Follower Ratio — Adds additional authority to your profile

5. Profile Banner — Opportunity for a creative copy

I explain a little better on the pod, but this is the gist of optimization.

By looking at my page, you know the exact ICP that I am trying to attract!

Bonus Secret #2

This next one is really cool because it can yield massive results…

Even with a small account!

I’m talking 30+ likes, 20+ comments, 1k+ impressions with only one post!

And the post doesn’t even have to be good!

The secret is a really easy community-building technique!

How many likes do you want on your post?

For simplicity, let’s just say… 30 likes

Okay so you can get that in a day, easy!

Take the result and multiply it by 1.5

You get 45… this is the number of people we need on our community list.

Go and add 45 profiles to a list, but first, you need to qualify them.

• Must be active

• Must make great content

• Must respond to comments

Okay, now that you have a qualified list…

Like and leave a thoughtful comment on a post for each person daily!

Do this for 5 days straight (45 comments)…

and you will have at least 30 likes per post daily…

Not only that, but you will have a community of 30 to 45 people.

This is how small accounts can win clients that larger accounts wish they had.

Welcome to episode 23!

In the last episode, I discussed the first mistake most entrepreneurs make. It’s something that can ruin your business in the long run and prolong your success. What is it? A lack of clarity.

Many entrepreneurs think they have a great idea but refuse to refine it.

Getting clarity will ensure that the entire foundation is built up the right way!

Today’s episode is about the second scaling of my business. We had just scaled to $1.4M, but something we did leveled us up, and I had no clue why until now.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner…

Let’s dig in.

We Scaled Too Quickly

My 1st business grew from $0 to $1.4M in 8 months, most of you know this.

But what you may not know is that right after we hit this milestone…

We immediately lost about 50% of our business.

Why?

Because we scaled our business on a shaky foundation.

And once we got to those heights, it couldn’t support the weight.

The whole system came crashing down, and we were left to pick up the pieces.

The process of rebuilding enlightened me…

I could be doing more with LESS

What Did We Do?

We went from offering every service to only one service.

See, part of the problem with our foundation was that we were spread too thin.

In order to keep up with demand, we had to hire and train brand new employees.

We couldn’t even do that properly, we still had to deal with all this business.

I needed to find a solution and needed to find it quickly.

After running the numbers, I noticed that 90% of our revenue came from one service.

So, I made the informed decision to specialize in this one service.

The minute I made the decision… the gravity set in

• What if we lose customers

• What if we can’t get more customers

• What if we don’t recover from this

Well…

What actually happened was that we received more business, landed more clients, and emerged from the slump.

We niched ourselves down, it actually benefitted us.

See, most people see niching down as a limitation, but in reality, it can become a growth accelerator.

It was much easier for us to build a positive reputation because we were now specialized. It was also much easier to train new hires and facilitate orders.

That decision changed our trajectory in a positive way.

If I had to do it over again, I would start super niche and expand to other niches after I’m established.
